How do I choose a coach?
EPIC has a variety of well-trained professional coaches. Choosing a coach is a personal decision that should be determined by the skater and his/her family. Learn more about our coaches on our coaches page, and feel free to reach out to them with questions.
How much do private lessons cost?
Private lesson costs vary depending on the coach giving the lesson and the duration of the lesson. Contact EPIC’s front desk to get a price list.
Where can I get my skates sharpened?
EPIC offers figure skating and hockey sharpening services by well-trained staff members. Contact the front desk staff to learn more about rates, fees, and the schedule.
How do I log my volunteer hours?
As of now, we have a paper form available here on our website. We are working on implementing a digital version.
How do I sign up to be in the Ice Show?
Skaters who have passed their Pre-Preliminary tests (and higher) and are full home club members of FCFSC may audition for a featured part in December. The EPIC staff will announce the audition date, time, and procedures in the fall months. Skaters who have not passed the Pre-Preliminary tests may register during an open casting call that will take place after the aforementioned audition process is complete. More information will be available closer to the show and/or audition date.
How do I compete?
Competition decisions are at the discretion of the skater and his/her coach. Registration procedures differ from competition to competition, but most clubs will post competition information on their websites as the competition dates approach. Many clubs only offer online registrations.
Where is a list of upcoming CO competitions
The Mile High Figure Skating Association lists all competitions on record on their website. A list of competitions is also posted on the bulletin board at EPIC. Once an announcement is shared with FCFSC, it will be shared on this website in the announcement section.
What is financial distribution?
Members in good standing may apply for financial distribution after representing FCFSC at competitions, test sessions, camps, and other sanctioned events that are included in the given year’s list of qualifying events. You can find the most current form and all affiliated rules here on the Forms page.
May I come to a BOD meeting?
All board meetings are open to the public and are posted on our calendar of events. Minutes from previous meetings are posted on the green rink bulletin board.
When is the Annual Banquet?
The banquet will take place in the spring (Feb – April) each year.
How advanced of a skater do I need to be to participate in contract ice?
Contract ice is managed through EPIC. Contact EPIC for more information about rules and regulations associated with contract ice.
How do I sell my used skates?
We are working on putting together a consignment program and will post more information once it comes available. The synchro teams also organize a skate swap every year and will share information once the next event is scheduled. Check the announcements section of our website for more details.
Are there resources for competition hair and makeup?
The Club Education Committee presents hair and makeup seminars every few years. We suggest reaching out to fellow skaters or coaches if you have questions.
What can I do at home to improve my skills and strength?
Discuss the possibility of starting an off-ice conditioning program with your coach. EPIC offers off-ice conditioning classes for figure skaters as well. More information on those classes is available here.

How do I rent a locker?
Contact EPIC’s front desk to inquire about locker availability. Skaters are billed for locker usage on a monthly basis.

Boots and blades can be purchased through authorized retailers and should be mounted by a professional. Oftentimes, the boot/blade retailer performs mountings, but EPIC has staff members that can perform mountings and sharpenings for you as well. Remember to have your blades sharpened before skating on them for the first time.
